MOUNTAINEER MASCOT REUNION

The first-ever Mountaineer Mascot Reunion was held in October of 1992 and served to bring the former Mountaineer Mascots back to the West Virginia University campus to reconnect with those that served in the coveted Mountaineer Mascot position. At the first reunion, it was decided that the reunions would be held in the fall every five years.

The Celebration

The seventh Mountaineer Mascot Reunion was held October 27-29, 2022, as part of WVU’s Homecoming festivities. This year’s reunion was attended by 23 former Mountaineers, along with the current Mountaineer, Mary Roush. Activities planned for the three-day event included a Mountaineer Mascot Blood Drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross, a Fireside Chat highlighting five former Mountaineers, a tour of Milan Puskar Stadium and Facilities, participation in the WVU Homecoming Parade, a social for the Mountaineers to share their special memories in the buckskins, and participation in a pre-game brunch at our WVU President’s home.  The highlight of the event was the opportunity for the former Mountaineers to cheer on our football team on the field at Milan Puskar Stadium as 60,000+ Mountaineer fans welcomed them back home.

The next Mountaineer Mascot Reunion will be held in the fall of 2027. Please watch this website for the next Reunion updates when they become available.
